The following information comes from the Venture Taranaki pages about Roadmap2050:
Taranaki is an awesome place to live, work, play and create. As our economy and businesses shift towards a low-emissions future, we need to make sure we keep all that’s great about Taranaki while planning for that to be shared by everyone who lives here. The Taranaki 2050 Roadmap has been co-designed by the region, for the region. It considers not just how our economy will change, but all aspects of our lives, and provides the opportunity to plan for inclusive growth.
Creating the draft Roadmap
From February – April, 2019 the people of Taranaki created the content of the Roadmap through a co-design process. Over 700 people took part in 23 workshops around the region on defined transition topics, as well as 5 community workshops. 11 of the region’s high schools sent students to attend a specialised youth workshop and we gathered the voices of the region’s young people through a creative challenge. Over 360 people completed surveys online or at events and all the voices gathered created the Taranaki 2050 Roadmap.
Next
Now that the Roadmap has been finalised, a programme of work is being developed to determine the short-term actions and medium-term strategy needed to achieve the region’s long-term goals and vision for 2050.
This work will take place progressively from August 2019 to mid-2020, published sequentially as Action Plans to support the Taranaki 2050 Roadmap.
The Roadmap Action Plans will take into consideration and help guide other plans and programmes. This includes:
Our work here is also helping the Government inform how it could partner with other regions, sectors or communities planning for, and undergoing, transitions in the future.
The Centre for Innovation & Creativity sees itself as playing an important role around innovation and creativity in regard to the Venture Taranaki Roadmap2050, and has been a positive contributor to the process.

About the Centre
Connecting with the future of Taranaki

An integrated model
The Centre for Creativity will be located in Ngamotu New Plymouth. A planned social enterprise, it will generate innovative and educative outcomes that directly improve local sector communities, creativity and businesses. A multi-purpose venue for vision, sound, STEAM projects and performances, the centre could also provide workshop spaces, online TV, and teaching and learning on NZQA accredited programmes in Creativity.
The interface between creativity, culture, economics and technology, has the ability to create and circulate intellectual capital, support income generation, jobs and exports while at the same time promoting social inclusion, cultural diversity and intergenerational human development. These factors are crucial to the long term sustainability of culture and business in Taranaki. An adapted Te Wheke Model is used to explain the functioning of the Centre, with Mātauranga Māori and STEAM at it’s core.
